Mana Regenerative ItemsEdit

Mana regenerative items provide the character wearing them an additional percentile chance that they will gain the class' maximum allowable mana regeneration per tick.

Each class has a base average mana gain per tick.  Before 1996, characters gained a fixed amount of mana or hp every tick, minus penalties.  After 1996, a new system was put into place that divides each tick into 30 sub-ticks, called atoms.  As atoms arrive toward the full tick, mana and hp is recovered.  The amount is determined by a rand(base) algorithm.  The mana and hp bases are determined by class.   Pure spell casters recover more mana per atom, for example, than hybrid fighter/casters.   The result of the rand(base) function is multiplied by the amount of mana regen or hp regen gear percentage your character is wearing.  If that number exceeds the maximum amount of mana or hp gain that class is allowed, it is capped.  In this manner, high mana and hp regen bearing characters will recover mana and hp faster than characters with lower regen indexes.

For example, a cleric can regain an average of 90 mana per tick  (3 average, max 6 per atom) while standing and not hungry.  One tick is approximately 75 seconds.  This basic amount of mana regeneration can be modified upward with equipment, up to 150% of the basic regeneration factors.   The more regeneration factor your character wears, the more likely your character will regenerate at the maximum amount of mana per tick allowable for the class at the most advantageous state for that class.  Clerics with 150% mana regen should expect to gain at least 180 mana per tick.

Advantageous States

The following state characteristics affect mana and hp regeneration while playing:

Hungry/Full - You will receive a regeneration penalty while hungry (food).  Eating until full will remove the penalty.
Thirsty/Full - You will receive a regeneration penalty while thirsty (water).  Drinking until full will remove the penalty.
Awake/Asleep - You will receive a regeneration bonus while sleeping.
Regeneration Rooms - Certain rooms in the mud possess regeneration benefits.  Those classes that can detect magic will be able to identify these rooms.
